Performance in the I-league paved the way for Rocus & Lalkamal
It’s a sweet beginning for two of the most consistent performers of the recently concluded I-League as they found their names for the first time for the Senior National Camp.
While Rocus Lamare played an important hand in the Salgaocar’s maiden I-League triumph, Lalkamal Bhowmik was the standout performer for the Chirag United.
‘’Performance in the I-league paved the way for the Senior National Camp and I am very happy with the progress,’’ said Rocus.
For Lalkamal, the former SAIL Football Academy cadet, it’s all happening for the moment.
‘’I was waiting patiently for this opportunity and I am glad that I finally made it into the National Camp.’’
‘’It’s my first Senior National camp and I will try to give my best,’’ added Lalkamal.
Rocus Lamare who has also captained Salgaocar is not only elated but also satisfied to see more than five players from Vasco based side in the National Camp.
‘’Since so many years, not a single player from Salgaocar made it to the National camp. It’s nice to see so many players from Salgaocar in the camp,’’ added Rocus.
‘’The atmosphere in the team is quite good. The Seniors as well juniors are not only gelling well on the field , but also off the field they are also helping each other a lot,’’ Lalkamal further added.
The India Seniors will take on Western Command in another practice match on Saturday at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi at 4:30 pm.
New Delhi: The senior Indian football team could travel to Trinidad and Tobago in September for a three-match series, according to All India Football Federation (AIFF) sources.
“The national team have been invited to play three matches in Trinidad and Tobago though the exact venues are yet to be identified,” said an AIFF official. “We intend to take a full strength team for the exposure tour,” he said.
While the tour of Trinidad and Tobago would come after the World Cup qualifiers against United Arab Emirates (UAE), two more matches have been arranged as preparations before the UAE tie. On July 10, Armando Colaco’s boys would visit Male for a match against Maldives national team, followed by a friendly tie with Qatar in Doha on July 17.
However, the federation’s efforts to rope in Bangladesh to play against India in Delhi in the first week of July has fallen through.
Federation sources also said the proposed three-match India-Pakistan series in England could be postponed to August. India are expected to send the under-23 team in England.
Agree with u Rudra..they should stop playing wid sides like Western Command..this will give our players a false sense of pride..maybe thy should try n play more competitive matches against I-League teams..the likes of PuneFC, Salgaonkar, etc. When Houghton played against 3rd Div teams there were a lot of hue n cry but now nobody is opening thei mouth..Hypocrites!!
Take it easy mates! Its just the part of the training. They are training a lot and need match situations in between. I dont mind it coz we are not spending anything to play them. Bob spent crores to play 4th division teams
