Athough not relevant for this thread, but Eelco makes a very valid point pertaining to Bagan's win this year:
That I League was pretty short this time & if one has the momentum one can go a long way. If the league is spread out over a longer duration, the dynamics would have changed definitely. The shorter the time for games(if the team is fit and not much gap between matches), the more luck & momentum play a role.
Romeo Fernandes in Green & Maroon's Radar The 22-year-old is expected to commit to a deal with the Green and Maroon before the end of the month
East Bengal and Mohun Bagan are hot in their pursuit of FC Goa’s Romeo Fernandes, who lit up the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) and the last ever Federation Cup with his spirited performances.
He opted to join Brazil’s Atletico PR but could only garner 25 minutes of playing time and as a consequence, couldn’t make the cut for the Indian squad.
With Dempo SC being relegated, it is unlikely that Romeo would opt to play in the second division I-League after the ISL ends in December.
However, Goal has reliably learnt that Romeo could favour a move to Mohun Bagan as the I-League champions would also participate in the AFC Champions League play-off and possibly the AFC Cup as well.
“With Lenny Rodrigues moving to Bagan, Romeo would be comfortable with the Mariners. Also they could participate in the continental competition, which means more exposure and matches for Romeo. Also alongside Sony Norde and Katsumi Yusa, Romeo can do very well,” informed a source close to the player who are negotiating his contract with the Kolkata giants.
In which position he will play in Mohun Bagan? Right half is Katsumi and left half is Sony . Now other promising winger like Ram Malik, Pankaj and Ujjal are not getting chance in team. So wastage of money and talent for both Mohun Bagan and Romeo
