Both the Rediff and The Tribune incorrectly mention the second goalscorer as Khalid Jamil, whereas it is clear from the video and the soccerway report that it was Ancheri who scored the second goal.
@munna219777: Baichung had to sit out that match because he was given two yellow cards in the previous match against UAE.
@dhritiman7: The goalkeeper is mentioned as V Singh, perhaps he is Virender Singh, who played at CB and Mahindra united, among others.
Yes, attacking was always good and very good scorers. goals scored by Vijayan used to be awesome. I remember one goal , could be in in Santosh trophy, believe Pappachan was the defender, on the left just outside 6 yardsbox, Vijayana hit the ball in the ground in front of the defender, it popped on top of the defender, he collected the ball running past him and blasted the ball in the top left hand corner. He was always a delight to watch. The problem in late 80s and 90s was that the team used to tire out around 70 min mark and most goals conceded would have been post that period. It was so frustrating. Even though talent was there, self-belief was missing. Clearances made used to be lofty balls into the stands instead of playing it simple and because of that players used to tire out quickly as they had to do most of the running after the opposition. I remember Baichung said once regarding Nayeemudin when he was the coach, instead of providing any tactical inputs, it was just passion which was projected to the players and shell out a result for India. I beleive the same teams with better coaching and tactical inputs could have done a lot better.
