@souravindia , Please understand nobody is wishing away EB & MB. I dont understand why you are all defensive and fussy about it. Clearly you dont have a proper stand.

Are you saying MB & EB are to be in top tier or you think every club should be given a chance? In that case clearly if say AFC have been rightfully given a chance ahead of say a EB or MB will either of these clubs accept it?

    Answer is NO.

There is a roadmap, Doesn't matter whether it works or not, But you go to give it a try. The current i-league cannot be made better. The reason is AIFF doesnt have the skill to restructure without the help of IMG. IMG have shaken the system by bringing in ISL. They will have a say as they are the major stakeholder in Indian football more than the local clubs.

History goes for a toss when you look at it legally who has a stake in this.

All i see is emotional outbursts more than pure Business like decisions. On paper the new roadmap offers

1.) more number of clubs to come under a national umbrella

2.) More number of Indian players given a sustainable employment opportunity. More referees, More infra needed to support 40-50 clubs.

3.) A womens league desparately needed

4.) This current method of loaning players which make player burnouts happen will stop

5.) More number of clubs means a demand for more talented youngsters being tapped earlier.

6.) First time Indian football is expected to have dedicated channels. Possibly played even during EPL timeslots.

7.) Stadium sharing can be stopped, We can have sustainable smaller stadiums to support multiple club teams in the same city.

8.) Having a Three tier league will mean more AFC club slots.

9.) Finally a cup played under the lines of FA cup where everyone will be given a chance to play in AFC.

I dont know where you get its a amalgamation of rich clubs. Thats bound to happen in every developed footballing structure in the world. What matters is the chance given to all to tap into revenue and chance to play continental cups for glory. There seems to be a window to do so in the proposed league.

I know all these are on paper. But the current calendar and structure is unviable. Get atleast the top tier and League 1 sorted with Youth teams + a serious Women's league thats an amazing effort if they pull this off even by 2020.

Just to clarify, the I-League could have been made better but it would have taken a lot of investment and time. Sadly we do not have clubs ran by super rich politicians (cough, Buriram United, cough)

Most of ikeague clubs are run by politically well connected families....itbwould have been much easier to get a marketing consultant on revenue sharing and add a few franchises and sell the national league....much easier/much less sham investment of pre season in Sweden and would have complimented the existing ecosystem rather than uprooting it with some shadow businessmen owned franchises owned exclusive league

    Read his quote:

"The DSK Shivajians' official also conveyed that he has no qualms over having his side ply their trade in League 1 which would be the second tier. He also highlighted the importance of the Federation Cup, which in this endeavour which however will be renamed, 'Super Cup'.

"Yes, we are very happy to play in League 1. According to the proposed plan both the ISL (Indian Super League) and League 1 are being given equal importance and both are getting equal opportunities as well. The proposed Super Cup will be a key tournament to decide the future of Indian football," he opined.

The winners of League 1 will not gain promotion into the ISL for now but the president of the Pune based outfit is not deterred by that.

"It does not matter as League 1 and ISL are now parallel. We will be having our own strengths to showcase. I still firmly believe that League 1 will actually cast a pathway for the future of football in India. For me, League 1 is the top league," he concluded.

But PP convinced him that the tier 2 is the top tier. Read the heading.

I am never opposing a 3 tier system. I am always for a greater no of clubs playing football. But moving the entire premier division clubs to the back foot, to second tier and moving all newly formed franchises to premier division is fool hardy.

MB/EB will probably still sustain thinking about their fan base and if pushed to limit, they might still agree to play in second tier. I want to see how many of other clubs actually, learning they never have option to go to the top tier, will still not close their shutters. First ones to opt out will be Goan clubs and others will follow suit.

All your dreams of having 50 clubs playing in a 3 tier system will just fizzle out to oblivion

Do you really think AIFF is going to promote or market the lower 2 divisions? Man , you must have closed thought all these years then.

Did  people in USA /Australia or Korea go berserk like us Indians when MLS A league and K league was formed as a closed league when they already had a league structure in place? or are we simply overreacting?  From where do their lower most tier clubs find their motivation even after knowing that they will NEVER EVER play in the premier division?  If they are doing well...why cant we? Too many negative people around talking how all ISL clubs will crumble, Nita Ambani will lose interest, lower tier clubs will shut down due to lack of motivation. I understand that many of your favourite clubs havent made into ISL and probably talking shit out of depression,  but honestly  the roadmap promises much much more than just a mere representation in top tier....let the work get started as per the proposals. We are shouting and rubbing everything off even without seeing the big picture, We are only making assumptions and making prophecies over here how everythinng in Indian football will fail.
