If guys like Mandar Tamhane , Larsing Ming, Kulkarni ( the newcomers) has no problem with the AIFF roadmap, I dont know what is the problem with so many naysayers in this forum . Its only the Goa and Kolkata clubs with their shithead management that are resisting such a move (as always).
"The new plan is beneficial for Indian football," emphatically stated Tamhane, in an interview toGoal.
"The new proposal is good for multiple reasons. You cannot carry on with the current set-up for a few reasons. Firstly, the players get burnt out. The play in multiple tournaments such as the Indian Super League (ISL), the I-League, the Federation Cup, the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) tournaments and finally the Indian national team's games.
"Secondly, the current calendar is cramped and there has been no clear roadmap. What this plan does is simplifies the calendar so that there is no altercation or oscillation in time allotted to each tournament. The national team will get time to play more matches and you have dedicated tournaments, which will satiate viewership and encourage further participation," clarified the Bengaluru FC official.
Tamhane firmly pitched his hat in the pro-football players ring stating that players of the beautiful game will benefit massively from these changes.
"This is a massive opportunity for all players under the AIFF's gaze. Basically, job opportunities are created throughout the country. There are players who are currently unemployed and are suffering from a lack of jobs on the sporting front. This plan addresses that major pitfall," expressed the man who has overseen the Bengaluru-based club's two I-League winning campaigns off the pitch.
On the broadcast plans for League One, the new structure's second tier in India, Tamhane commented, "There will be an improvement in broadcast and with that comes a minimum guarantee and share of revenue. It's an uplift over the current system which is bereft of this vital revenue stream. Currently, some 110 matches are broadcasted over the air and over digital platforms. The number will eventually rise to 300, with the implementation of the roadmap. It's excellent for fan viewership of Indian football."
He mentioned that with the ISL becoming the premier league of the country, it will fall in with AFC and FIIFA regulations.
"Now ISL will become an authentic competition because of its recognition by AFC and FIFA. Just imagine tomorrow in the Asian Champions League or AFC Cup, Zico or (Marco) Materazzi coaching an Indian team. It will be a proud moment for Indian football," he further added.
Tamhane concluded, "Bengaluru FC always wants to play in the premier league of India if afforded an opportunity. Forget about thinking about this plan as an individual club, if you just analyse neutrally, you realize it (AIFF plan) has a lot of potential."
I loved this proposal... but my worry is its execution.... the execution of this is going to take huge task for all if they want to get it done seriously... if the football clubs start dreaming of lower division to work on feeding them then it wont be of any use.. if the clubs dont improve improve infrastructure for grassroot sports then we cant produce even 11 sunil chetri.. forget about messi and ronaldo
As per the roadmap by IMG-R, he should have also said "Had he been alive, he would have said that 'watch and don't follow India.' USA Australia Korea " as all have a similar structure ,,,why only pinpoint India? ... besides he is making himself a laughing stock by comparing clubs like Santos with mismanaged heritage clubs of Kolkata...a proper 4 tier football strcuture has always been there in Brasil . Comparing Brasil with India another joke The serie A has been founded 60 yrs back..with serie B and C in early 70s and 80s...and D introduced a few years back.
. Kolkata clubs are busy playing the " legacy" card every now and then without giving a thought to the proposals that have been made.
When you look at all this hue & cry by the big two of Kolkata you should realise there is more to it..
Firstly nothing has been finalised yet so why shout like "Kolkata football killed"? MB & EB i believe can easily get potential investors if they play in the ISL.. So why aren't they discussing that with AIFF? The fact is they want things to remain as it is. Professionalism means end of nepotism.. Vijay Mallya is the best kind of owner Anjan Mitra & Nitu Sarkar can hope for.. Sadly they won't get someone like him now.. So these people are scared and like always they are playing the emotional heritage card I love my club and i want to see them in top tier, but I'm not fooled by all this drama
Supporters instead of bashing AIFF and crying conspiracy should ask the relevant questions.
Get investors. Negotiate with FSDL & AIFF. Play in the ISL
All we need is an investor who is willing to invest 35-40 cr in MB and EB annually...prepare a bid, present it to AIFF and bam , they are in place to immediately be a part of ISL. If then also they are denied, then they can start all sorts of revolts. Instead , they are blindly opposing all the positive steps that has been illustrated, threatening to go to court, boycotting ISL, the famous Anjan Mitra has even gone one step forward by saying that he wont let ISL happen in Kolkata. (Unfortunately many fans are planning to follow suit)
MB and EB are currently bad bets... The club as a product is fantastic but the product being managed by some poor officials... i heard rumours in forum that ethihad or some Middle-east company wanted to by share and get power to run the club.. but current officials rejected it... if the club officials keep on being adamant that they are running the club the right way.. how can you expect a professional body to sponsor or takeover the club?

"All these remind me of Stanley Rous, the former president of FIFA. When India finished fourth in 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, he told the Asian counties to 'watch and follow India'. Had he been alive, he would have said that 'watch and don't follow India.'"----Sarcasm at its very best!
