In a poll held on the website, a majority of Goal's readers backed the new changes to be introduced to the Indian football edifices soon....
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) in conjunction and consultation with its marketing partners, IMG-Reliance, alongside several important stakeholders in the world of Indian football stated that it was going to carry out a complete restructuring of the presently implementated edifices of the football leagues in the subcontinent.
The plan in its whole, which includes lengthening the duration of the Indian Super League (ISL), making Indian football a three tier league system, besides having a definitive calendar, can be read here.
Now, the plan, in its present form, has been devisive on all spheres of the football front, drawing sharp criticisms from professionals such as erstwhile Indian national skipper Chuni Goswami, while another record goalscorer and former skipper of the Blue Tigers Bhaichung Bhutiastepped up to back the blueprint.
However, in a sport such as football, which is widely followed by people from all walks of life, it is impossible to draw a tangible conclusion to a debate without vox populi. Therefore, in a poll hosted on this website yesterday, 20th May, the question was put forth if the India FA's plan garnered support form the majority of the Indian football aficionados and observers in general.
The plebiscite, whilst not being definitive, certainly helped in defining which way the pendulum swung, with 62.7 per cent of the voters on the same boat as that of the Indian authorities.
On the other hand, 37.3 per cent voted against the proposal. They might be buoyed by the fact that Reliance Sports' CEO Sundar Raman said the authorities would restructure the plan as when when consultations bear fuit.
Whether the plan is implemented in its full is yet to be seen, but the people certainly have opined in its favour as per initial readings.
Sorry but I cant include unless I see figures. This is very wrong notion over here. Economy suggest this cannot be true. Don't live in a dream world. See for yourself the spending of SOME clubs in respect to others in the same leagues and you shall get reality.
Tier 1 teams should have u-8, u-10, u-12, u-14 as non residential teams who will play in their local school leagues etc and u-16, u-18 residential teams who will play with better quality opponents or other league age group teams.
Tier 2 teams should have the u-12, u-14, u-16, u-18 non residential teams
Tier 3 teams should develop 2 age group non residential sides as well.
Teams should not spend on delpiero kinds of waste and highly inflated names and spend the saved money on youth setups.
Tier 1 u-18/reserves should be allowed to field teams in tier 3 or tier 4(local leagues like cfl, mdfa, gpl) with no promotion or relegation whatever their result might be
They can go on with there New Plan but there has to be Promotion System and the isl should play with 4 -5 forn foreigners. Furthermore eb mb bfc have to be in isl and sal/sporting bid jointly for a place in isl.
@souravindia What kind of figures do you need? MLS releases the player salaries every season and their roster rules are publicized. Every team is on equal footing minus the use of marquee players (3 in US over the 1 in India). Same in Australia. That is the point of a salary cap.
@red_devil Depends. FC Seoul outspends everyone but it is not impossible for other teams to spend well.
@sanvedjadhav If they follow AFC licensing criteria then ISL teams will need to have youth teams.
PP has release a tweet ( I am unable to post link here) accusing the "legacy clubs" (well put and totally neutral , like the president should be) of having opposite views in Pvt and public...hmm

Even Bengaluru FC Chief Technical Officer Mandhar Tamhane called the plan implementable than the current set-up.
