IMO what MM wanted to say was :-guys just give me my crores for 2-3 months work. Its not like me and my friends are here to develop our football/managerial careers.
Our league will be better without some so called marquees. This marquee shit should be scrapped asap. Some old unfit guys are making some quick money. If they don't want to stay that is good. I don't think they are anymore capable of getting anything close to the amount isl is paying them. They will just vanish. Good riddance .
IMO whatever Marco just said is just a nonsense. If Aiff wants to grow indian football then 7 months league must needed under proper foreign coaches. In this context ISL & I-league should be merged with proper manner, not just like what IMG-R proposed. IMO Total 10 teams league 6 teams from ISL & 4 team also play from I-league can combined the league in that condition may be one or two teams from Goa or Kolkata teams may marge. ISL teams may have money but they dont have any traditional fanfollwing like i-leauge club like EB,MB or goan club & also they dont have proper infrastructure to nurture young talent like u-16,u-19,u-20 boys.ISL club almost loaned all players from I league club. In that scenario underestimating tradition club may be disastrous for indian football. @ArsenalFan700 ..Marquees should exist...
@ArsenalFan700 ... All the last 2 teams ISL & 4 teams from I-league should relegate from new merger league at this juncture to create proper playing field & balance between money vs supporter(legacy) IMO. Relegation should be needed all format of club that may be league 1 or 2 to create healthy competition. I dont believe solely money or legacy can along create better team.
I understand your point of view but if ISL or merger league to be successful then relegation should be needed & also minimize no of foreign player as per AFC rule. All successful league have relegation method. Aiff should find out some solution if they thought isl to be no-1 league the nation. AIFF should not be puppet to IMG-R.
Didn't say anything about relegation... just that the ISL teams have to be in the ISL. Agree about the foreigner limit.
Personally I am not against promotion/relegation but only if it is done in the way Japan did it. Don't force promotion/relegation. Have the ISL as a 10 team league, expand it to 18 teams and then once we have maybe 4-6 strong teams under the ISL relegate the bottom 4-6 from ISL and promote the top 4-6 from LO and form a new 2nd division with 8-10 teams with pro/rel between them. If a team wants to join the 2nd division they need to pass the licensing criteria (which is exactly what Japan does with their J. League Associate Membership).
