No League shall be considered as "Top League" if it doesn't have Aizawl FC (the current National Champion), Mohun Bagan, EB & BFC (the most consistent teams since the birth of ISL). Football norms in this country can't be dictated by some business groups who suddenly smell money after the success of IPL. Let them first build their own infrastructure ....their permanent year long location (surely not a 5 star hotel), their play ground/practice ground, should show the list of contracted players (for the full season if the top league will be of 5-6-7 m duration), should also show how they match AFC criteria. Till they fulfil all these they just can not dictate terms & advise or object against any I-League team's participation. If they continue to live in a Fool's Paradise...they may live but they can't expect leave alone force others to leave in a Fool's Paradise.
Major sources of income for leagues are media rights, sponsorships and franchise fees.
Major source of income for teams are sponsorships, gate fee (ticket sales), merchandise sales, prize money and a share of central revenue (share of league’s revenues from media rights and sponsorship passed on to teams). This is what happens in IPL.
1) If ISL has the same model, then after paying 15 crores, how much money MB or EB would have gained from ISL?
2) As they would have gained money also from ISL, it is wrong to say that they would have saved 75 crores.
3) It is wrong to blame IMG-R for demanding 15 crores-it is basic to their business model. Other franchises will also demand waiver from Franchise fee.
@gaffertape 1. Kolkata club officials need to take control of the narrative now else if decision goes public first they'll be killed (not in literary sense) @munna219777 I've not heard any ISL club paying the franchise fee.
@gaffertape though 6 years are small We can expect clubs like Minerva,DSK,CCFC to fold in those years With no real fan base and struggling financially I don't think they would survive for 6-7 years playing in 2nd division
Also I doubt whether IMG would allow such teams to qualify to 1st division after those years

A case in the supreme Court won't change anything
Only FIFA can do something

8 ISL teams + 2 New franchises (Gujarat,Ranchi)
5 months ISL
simultaneously 5 months I-League
Then 2 months supercup
