Yes, true.... Top Division where AIFF officials are invisible, telecast quality is poor, marketing is non existent, Prize money is not that huge, hero of the league gets a 2-wheeler, hero of the match gets a trophy & a plastic cheque.
Surely Prafool Patel's Top Division League is sooooo attractive for all.

Why not? ISL would be the top division, both AFC slots will go to it.

@AKB Ay, I'll take the bate... in football terms, you have MLS and the A-League where you pay and that is to compensate the other owners for coming into the league.

MLS and the A-League have continental spots cause they are top division leagues of the country with proper year long run clubs with academy's. ISL is a tournament as per "PP,AFC and FIFA" its dose not have any clubs but franchises which are run from single head office in Mumbai but registered in different city's on hotel addresses. they have 1 day to 1 week youth programs which are given extensive coverage "Paid media, social media and star" they run on undisclosed finance with paid fake owners they run for just 3 months and rest of 9 months are run on FB by posting happy birthday posts. so they won't get any continental slots.

You pretty much almost described MLS after the first few years. Many of the teams operated out of New York or wherever their owner was from (Hint: 10-12 of the teams were split between 3 guys).

Also why the beginning part? That could change in a week or two. They could get continental spots.

Same thing will happens with us if we will just focus on ISL and not on league below it .

Where are all the great players? Australia paying price for ignoring development

Smith pinpoints the end of the NSL in 2004 and the introduction of the A-League as the turning point in the crippling of Australia’s production line. The dismantling of the National Youth League, which was re-introduced in a limited form in 2008, and the disenfranchising of NSL clubs meant less opportunity for youngsters.

“We’ll never be competitive at a serious level with people that only train and play six months of the year, we’ve got to change that,” the 67-year old says. “If you think from 1989 to 2005 when we qualified for the World Cup and that generation of players, it was after introducing summer football and opportunity for kids to train and play all year around. And then we took it away and we haven’t replaced it.”

Australia is now paying the price for this colossal change. Ignoring player development for so long has left us in a situation where players like Tom Rogic and Aaron Mooy are rare diamonds. Another factor has been the alienation of many successful coaches from the old school – those from the NSL days who didn’t fit into FFA’s breakaway of “new football”. They include Steve O’Connor, Les Scheinflug and Raul Blanco, with many years of vital experience thrown away.

Where does it say that? This is an example of you posting an article about something you don't know anything about? Do you even follow Australian soccer? Do you regularly watch the A-League? The various National Premier Leagues? The youth leagues? Do you discuss the sport on Aussie soccer forums? I doubt it completely but one article which isn't even directly critical of the A-League and all of a sudden you think "Same thing will happens with us if we will just focus on ISL and not on league below it". Piss off Ashish. Another straw picked example because you don't like the ISL and another example of trying to take a league that is still young, in a country where it is the 4th or even 5th most popular sport, and use it as an example of why a franchise type league won't work.

Did you even read the article properly? The article says that there is a problem in youth development in Australia overall. Australia is a first world country and also lacks a proper football (soccer) culture. The country also now has a football federation which has a mandated curriculum for academies. This means that unlike a decade ago, where you had kids who would spend their leisure moments playing football and football academies were pretty much free or not that expensive, now you have kids who only play football when "they need to" and academies which might be out of the price range of the parents. That is not on the A-League but on the FFA and football (soccer) culture overall in Australia. Mix that in with other issues like how some young athletes will choose cricket or rugby over soccer when they are young and that also causes problems.

The A-League has actually created some great players for Australia. Mat Ryan is one of the world's brightest young goalkeepers right now, Aaron Mooy just earned promotion with Huddersfield Town to the Premier League yesterday after being one of the best players in the Championship, Tom Rogic is a mainstay at Celtic right now and has interest from Premier League and Championship sides, Jackson Irvine was also kicking it with Burton Albion, Mitchell Langerak was one of the better goalkeepers for a promoted Stuttgart in Germany, Trent Sainsbury was a standout in Holland, so was Aziz Behich in Turkey, Alex Gersbach is also now a starter in Norway at the age of 20 after spending formative years in the A-League, and Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borello just made moves to Germany at young ages.

And their is focus on other levels in Australia. There is spending going on in the NPL's but it just hasn't been realized because things take time. The FFA are not saints, they are underperforming badly and could be doing a lot more for the A-League, youth development, and youth overall but honestly I don't see a correlation or any "foreshadowing" in this article for Indian football. This is a primarily Australian issue.

Do you even know the context behind the selected paragraphs you chose?
