Where Franchise football leagues are prevalent except in a handful countries ? Don't pose as if franchise circus has done wonders in Indian football. Which club in EPL, La Liga, Series A, Bundesliga & host of others need to pay to play ? Remember they are light years ahead of us in Football. If Merit doesn't justify selection then I am sorry to say..it turns everything in to a joke. Also don't make me believe that if merit could be the sole criteria for selection earlier....it can't be now. Why these football loving franchises disappear for 8 months in a year....just to digest their love to football ? By the way can you tell me the address of Chennai franchise team ? By the way why we shout when Sumit Passi is inducted in to the NT & not Balwant. Would we accept if Summit Passi is fielded & Sunil Chetri is left out of squad ? Then we will shout about merit but to justify some business persons' crooked thinking we throw merit criteria to the drain.
looks like a scatter gun approach in your response. Talks everywhere from franchise football to EPL to Frikkin summit passi? Anyway,
Btw talking about wonders, EB,MB haven't done anywonders to Indian football in I-league as well for you to claim high moral ground.
Lets merge the league fairly at the same time business decisions also have to be take.ln for the people who invest money into the merged league for which some compromises have to be taken.
Gone are the days of amateur football playing for the love of the game.
Yes....but don't shed crocodile's tear when some deserving player is sacrificed to accommodate a joker in the NT, after all merit is at a discount these days......amen.
Its about the concept of ISL where u pay franchise fees for a pie from the central pool. It could also be that none have paid so far.
If it's really that no one has paid then why should it be a problem for MB+EB to take it seriously?
They could just have pointed the fact ISL owners haven't paid it so they won't do as well.
However the basis of them not paying fees was and still is "History and fan following of the club" isn't that a wrong basis to fight for waiver of franchise fees?
Plus if they really did feel strongly against what they call "injustice" then why bother going to KL on 7th June? Hypocrisy of the Bengal clubs is clearly exposed but it's fans still shout victim. Tsk Tsk
The bottom line is a word called MERIT...be it NT selection criteria or ISL. Just can't shout Merit....Merit....Merit when it just suits you & otherwise preach a different gospel.
Who is amateur and who is professional? AFC and FIFA can tell us which league they recognise. If AFC fails to recognise ISL even after 7th June meeting, it is ludicrous for MB and EB to run for slot in ISL.
Worse would be if EB+MB go all the way to KL after lobbying for a ISL ticket only for table merger to be put off. That will be a face palm moment for them.
