Aww, it's just in the name. A Corporate Club having a ludicrous name like 'Kalyani Bharat FC' or 'Mahindra United' are in the same footing as that of ONGC or Titanium FC. If the corporate can separate themselves as independent profit centres and have sexy names not connected to their company, then that may be admissible in my opinion. I mean they don't object to the names 'Tractor Sazi' or 'Pohang Steelers'.

Those PSUs have good infra, which should be taken under consideration. We did not gain much even after eliminating them.

Ya, no. That way of thinking won't help in the long run.

@deb_ban Indian PSU clubs refused to create a separate entities and hence they were ousted.

How does it matter whether a seperate entity was created...img-r owns all isl clubs..just creating a different name doesn't change anything The question is whether they unearth new talents or not and wether the teams would be competitive...answer is yes....air India was rarely an embarrassment in NFL....they survived comfortabally

And look at where we are? Come on, they did well but not as if that is that amazing and if it was not for them we would not have gotten through some AFC regulations since they could pass the AFC licensing criteria in the first place. Army XI? They won't either so why even add them.

Football is about the game on the field and ya, the players are what make it, but to make it now we need to focus off it as well and bringing these PSU sides which barely market their teams, barely care about it, and who people will find hard to identify with won't help!

What's the fetish with afc citeria? We are a poor country and 2-3 teams in the league which give a platform to poor and talented youth won't hurt it all that much....if army xi doesn't meet afc criteria than we have to live with it.....id rather miss the afc criteria if the club gives the likes of Arjun tudu a platform and opportunity every year

You will say that but then complain when are chances in Asian competition are weakened.

Poor and talented youth won't be hurt from not having these teams in the top division... they will be hurt because there is no proper system below the top division. The state leagues are messed up and that is where they will shine and rise the ranks to the top division!

Sorry, but a club without any support base have no right to be in top division.

I suspect @deepakc wants  a few 'poor man's clubs' and 'PSU quota'  so as to ensure his club is always away from relegation fight zone.
