That contract is enforceable in which court exatly. India's SC will treat it worse than toilet paper.
Legally IMG is at best a marketing consultant who have a right to a share of any revenue left after operating cost of all stakeholders. If PP & co. Had balls they needn't be even invited to a meeting like 17th which involves structuring of domestic calendar. IMG could have done zilch about it legally or otherwise
You guys speculate way too much. I hope you realize that has pretty much no value. It just leads to everybody feeling demoralized. Now, what most of you could do is use the only weapon you have against the system- Right to Information (RTI). The AIFF is a "public authority" as defined in the RTI Act 2005. All of these questions everybody has should go straight to the AIFF with a Rs. 10 DD. Sure, they'll deny you the relevant contracts, meeting details and other things (don't ask me how I know that) but there are enough ways to pressure them. However, first we need to increase the volume of these RTI requests. Like someone mentioned the FSDL contract is untenable in a court of law, keeping it confidential is against the RTI as well. But unless there is a popular upsurge for this information, the AIFF will not act. The choice, my fellow aficionados, is ours. Do we create a culture of accountability or let things remain as it always were. If you feel that you're powerless, look at what's happening to the BCCI under the Supreme Court's spotlight. The AIFF is currently a small fly-by-night operator. Let's shine some light to it! I think it deserves that much.
The deal was signed in December 2010. These three Gentleman were there at AIFF in some capacity. Shillong Lajong was already in I-league by that time. Alberto Colaco was General Secretary at AIFF. I dont think Dempo was Vice President from West Zone but well as GFA and Team owner, he was in power circle at AIFF.
Interesting Article by the way for all the promises.
Deepak, Mate please understand legally, No point in showing who has the bigger balls here as AIFF are stuck with IMG-Rel to call the shots legally.
"The agreement with AIFF grants IMG-RIL all commercial rights to football The agreement with AIFF grants IMG-RIL all commercial rights to football in India, including sponsorship, advertising, broadcasting, merchandising, film, video and data, intellectual property, franchising and new league rights.
The AIFF has also mandated IMG-RIL to develop the branding and marketing aspects related to national team, domestic competitions and participating teams.
IMG-RIL would also look at scheduling, restructuring and reformatting of the domestic competitions. In addition, IMG Reliance plans to develop, operate and administer a new professional football league in the country. Through AIFF, IMG-RIL will also work with the member associations in developing these various proposals.in India, including sponsorship, advertising, broadcasting, merchandising, film, video and data, intellectual property, franchising and new league rights."
See the highlighted portion which is always known but am just reiterating. See the events leading after 2010 and say they have not exactly done what is mentioned above?
New league rights - ISL Intellectual and marketing of the new league - Star sports tieup Franchising - Current model of franchises in ISL and their insistence on Eb,MB & BFC to be involved as franchises and pay a frnachise fee rather than be a traditional club.
Second part of the term is what they are trying to do, Make a merged league.
We need a Subramaniam Swami to throw this contract under legal spotlight. It's an illegal deal and can have criminal misappropriation of funds aspect go it.
