"I-League clubs should stage a protest ..as ISL isn't sanctioned by FIFA " We heard this same thing before ISL was even born ,protests, walkouts ,blah blah blah 2 yearsdown the line and now ISL dominates Indian football And why do we have to compete with CSL and MLS ???We've just started and we are no where near them in terms and infrastructure and YDP which they themselves took few years to get it right. And as long as we can get players like Mendoza,Elano,Augusto,Norde,Quero,Mulder ,Hume ,Santos,Doutie,Velez,German etc Getting "best players " doesn't really matter IMO
"Lajong will not be able to sustain ISL type spending and neither can the 2 Goan clubs."
That is a losers mentality. Do we hear the same type of protests or whining from small clubs in European leagues that it is unfair that other BIG clubs are spending way too high on players and facilities? Life is unfair sometimes, that doesnt mean that you should stop competing
@samvedjadhav its not club complaining about money , its league who is asking to spend money , if some clubs wants to play with good 4 foreigners and young indian players what is harm in it
I agree with @sanvedjadhav . No league committee can reject teams on the basis of money power from a national league (especially one with huge fans). If their team is not good they will get relegated.
Lets have a league with 14 teams each with 2 divisions like any national league with relegation /promotion. Within 2 -3 years we will know the good and bad TEAMS ( no need to find the highest & lowest wage books).
Agree but why can we not slowly build towards that? The J. League started with 10 teams. The A-League with 8 teams and now they have 10 still. MLS with 10 and now 20 (to be 28). Even the Chinese league started with just 12.
I would rather the league start off fresh, 10 teams, and slowly build up stability as the years go on. Any Indian football league formed, whether it be your "usual" one or ISL like, will be volatile. The best approach is a slow and steady one.
Chirag Tanna plans will shock most of you on the 17th
The idea of the League forcing teams to Pay a franchise fee ( of around 12 crores) is what @7negi is right about
The relegation / promotion is PROBABLY going to be phased in *
ISL clubs want new entrants to pay a fee to join a League hat they believe has popularised the sport... I-League clubs claim they have invested for more over the years to create the players that are playing in the circuit....thus they shouldn't be forced to pay the same.
But who has paid Franchise Fees so far? BFC, DSK, Kalyani Bharat has paid all the dues of Franchise Fees as Corporate Club to AIFF ? I do not see that in AIFF Budget. Celebrity owners like Bharat Ratan has really paid all the 80% 60% 40% 20% ownership of Kerala Blasters or is it Sweat Equity? All ISL owners have really paid to IMG-R Franchise fees? Why will I-league clubs pay 12 crore to play in a league which is not yet sanctioned by FIFA? If payment is not clear and league is not sanctioned or official, all these talks are a sham. Some will have to pay to play in the league, some will just walk in because of family links, some will be paid to act as owners because of celebrity status. Name of ISL should be changed to IGL - Indian Ghotala League.
