i would love to debate eugenson's performance in the NT and what he brings to the table. He might be really good in i-league and making his presense felt in ISL too, but let me dare say he is a luxury players for the NT. not that he is poor or anything but at an international stage you need specialists mostly, if ur game is all about allround game then you need to be among the best.

Eugenson gameplay i repeat works when ur opponent is static or playing a waiting game, this lets him assert himself.

however at the ability we have and the position we are in no team plays static against us and the game just wizzes past him.

unless he is a specialist in one function and a good coach knows and uses him only for that then he can thrive.
let me push the boat out and say he will be good in domestic football but wont make a dent in international football.

Semboi for me lacks a footballing brain. he is just too direct. not that is wrong but will need pace and good supply to be able to thrive. he doesnt bring players in although he has a good vicious shot in him, he misses far too many guilt edged chances.

if it was for me i would invest in two DM's and a couple of wide wingers who work their socks off and create something. somebody young, i like vineeth and thoi either side with sunil playing deep middle to supply or hold possession along with the the 2DM's.

balwant is a good shout but does he create anything? runs more like a headless chicken and no wonder jeje and even jayesh are ahead of him in the pecking order.

like it or not jeje has a little bit more ability than robin and balwant.(controlling and link up play) age has caught up with him though.

@The real AG I am not convinced by Lyngdoh at an international level. I would be glad to be proved wrong though. He is a good player at I-League ISL levels which is nothing but a notch above CFL or GPL.

Aren't we being too critical of our players? Guys like eugene have performed very well in the i league and this year's isl. Just glancing through the stats you will find he is our best bet ATM. We need to be patient with him as his stats sughest he will come good. We need to get rid of players like jairu, francis and bring in guys like mandar, jayesh, semboi , thoi .

    Really WTF

The Blue Tigers couldn’t conduct a second training session at the Kanteerava Stadium…

Indian national team coach Stephen Constantine had planned for two training sessions on Tuesday at the Kanteerava Stadium. While they did complete their morning session, they were informed by the match commissioner that they weren’t allowed to conduct another session in the evening as it would deteriorate the ground conditions.

Heavy rains have lashed the Garden City and as a consequence, the match commissioner is worried whether the pitch would be in the best state for the 2018 World Cup qualifier between India and Guam scheduled for Thursday.

It is also reliably learnt that India and Guam’s evening practice sessions could get cancelled if Bangalore continues to receive heavy showers.

Meanwhile, India’s training session on Monday evening under floodlights too was cut short, according to sources close to Goal.

The stadium authorities were worried that with the transformer could get blown as the floodlights were switched on as it heavy downpour continued.

“The stadium authorities told that they would switch off the floodlights after 20 minutes and so the training session had to be cut short. For the game, the organizers will have to come up with a solution to deal with the heavy rainfall,” informed a source.

    This is what india needs:

That’s the job of the national federations. They have to find players in strong divisions who are eligible to play for their country and get their current board of players into stronger teams. That’s what we are doing at Guam. We tell the players to get off Guam and get into a competitive club. Guam leagues act as feeder systems and then young players move to bigger and brighter prospects.

“There has got to be a mixture of international and local talent. Our youngest player is Dylan Naputi who is training daily with De La Graza who plays with Dos Santos, Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard at LA Galaxy. How can that not be a benefit? It’s job of the federation to get it done. There has got to be way of doing it. Obviously you need support from all levels. I think it’s a must,” he told Goal.

@EastBengalPride - Eugene has proved himself in the highest leagues in India, and that would naturally mean he be obviously considered for the NT. That much you yourself has confirmed. What exactly is he supposed to do to prove himself, when being coaches by SC and played at right wing and as a defensive midfielder. Or do you need to meet some extra criteria to qualify fort he NT even if you have proven yourself in the local leagues. You need to better articulate your reasoning and tell me why the best Indian midfielder in the local national leagues don't convince you, and compare it with other players who you feel qualify, none of which you have mentioned anyway. Vacuous statements do little to strengthen your point.

@DX -  I totally disagree with you on that Semboi lacks a footballing brain, which is nonsense. He plays football a little naively as he is young and lacks experience, and missing chances, everybody does. But he gets into good positions due to his movement, and especially for the NT, movement is what is going to create chances. And Jeje controls a ball yes, but after about 5 touches, and he simply doesn't score at a better rate than any of Balwant or Semboi. Robin needs to be included as a squad player for specific situations, not as a left winger which is what SC is doing, and will probably do against Guam again. For the NT at this point, we need to include players who can supply the balls to the wide players and the forwards after spending large amount of time defending, and that usually means a first time long pass which the defensive midfielder like Halder, Sehnaj, Borges and Khabra or box to box players like Thoi will be able to make. If you pair Eugene with say Thoi and Sehnaj in midfield, there is enough graft in their to help Euegen play his natural game.

In any case, I don't want to make a judgement on players, who are clearly talented like Eugene and Semboi, or a Balwant or even a Robin, until a proper coach comes in, and starts utilizing his tools better.
