I- league and 2 would be going on at that time, does that mean those good players wont be playing in the tournament, and if they are what about the clubs who spend so much time and effort chasing the i-league dream???? tsk... tsk. Aiff has done it again.

Guys why is aiff planning on hold santosh trophy every year do they want to kill the players? Kolkata league, fed cup, ileague, ifa sheild, afc cup. They can hold it every 4 years just like world cup or olympics then it would be help to all the players.

All the above tournaments are played between clubs. Santosh trophy is played between states & also is a prestigious tournament. It gives a chance to players of different states to show their talents which can lead them to the professional clubs. Hence in this context it is necessary to hold this tournament but considering the fatigue it causes to established players, it wont be a bad idea if the selection of the players is done only after his & his clubs consent.

As mentioned by Jose, the tourney is really important for xactly those reasons. Also it gets some sponsors everytime and hence generates some revenue for AIFF

I know it generates much needed revenue for aiff but I am saying that considering the players fatigue after all the season i would say this competetion does not allow the players to recooperate all their energy and start the new season raring to go. For example check Robin Singh from last season he was scoring goals for fun till I-league and constantly kept getting injured the reason being FATIGUE

My suggestion is that this should be banned for i league players...otherwise it is important..non i league players will get exposure and chance to shine...clubs can scout and take the good one's

Santosh Trophy is the only opportunity for footballers from Non-Footballing states like A.P,Rajasthan etc to showcase themselves.

Scrapping the tournament means killing of game and opportunity for certain states.
