1) Switzerland has a significant number of Tamil origin Sri Lankans who had taken refuge there a few decades ago due to internal disturbances in Sri Lanka. Basel might be targeting that Tamil group of Swiss citizens.
2) For nearly a decade Basel was the best Swiss football team & had a huge edge over the other teams. However, during the last 2 years, due to change in management & some poor decision making, their fortunes have been on the wane & it is BSC Young Boys, the Swiss Super League champions of last year, who are now in the ascendancy.
Yeah Tamil Refugees are in many countries. I dont think that any tie-up is based on that demographic. Many took up Restaurant Business. Ironically as Tamil food is not that well known by western people, they brand their Restaurant / eateries as Sri Lankan Restaurant (this is a new fad) and end up serving Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala in the Menu as that is what westerners will eat.
@Samyajit: Could you confirm the entire thing? I mean, even a random wiki search will reveal that they have won the Swiss Super League 9 times in the last 10 years or so. BSC Young Boys are last year's champions. But what about the mismanagement and poor decision making by the club in the last two years?

Can anybody confirm whether this is true?
