"There is a good chance budding talents from FC Basel might be sent to Chennai City FC to gather experience"-- can somebody explain what sort of experience gathering is being talked about here?
If this turns out good, its a win-win situation for both CCFC & FC Basel ..
1. Name sake tie-up & investment.. both are different 2. Playing for FC Basel senior team might be distant dream.. but young CCFC players can be part of their academy... if not, atleast can be trained their for 1 or 2 years..
Only foreign investment in an Indian club before was the ATM-ATK venture.. This will be the second such thing. Investment is always more serious than just a tie-up. Also I am excited that it's FC Basel and not a big name club from Europe. However I feel the investment sum can be exaggerated by Ojha. In the press conference they will probably not give any figure.
@mohammed_87hassan They might be investing 15 million throughout the partnership, not per year. They can easily make back the money through CCFC. Maybe not instantly, but definitely in 10-20 years if they can sell young Indian players for a lot of money
No mate Indian Football is never a profitable venture
Its more like ATK-ATM one where they help in pre season, signing players and may be take youngsters to trail for 2 months
I doubt investment part. Basel aren't a very rich club and have a bunch of share holders. Investing 15 million over any period of time makes no sense. That can be their academy budget for 5 years and transfer budget for 2 seasons.
Such ideas and publicity stunts keep on appearing every year. Unless some concrete steps are taken, we should not take them seriously. Only talks in air.
