    This clearly shows that football development in Goa is more than other states. The credit should go to GFA.     I donot want to take any credit away from the GFA or the Goan clubs but if the league spreads to each and every corner of India then it will surely improve the popularity of the game. take a look in UEFA Champions League and guess what how teams are allowed to particapate from a country. Its 4. Even though any top 7 teams of England can surely make it to the quaterfinals very easily even though spainish teams(excluding Barca and Real) cannot be taken for certain that they will qualify for qf

    I do not agree with Archak. For regionwise football we have the Santosh trophy. But i suggest we increase the club participation. Champions league is different as it played among top European clubs & secondly football is already developed there. Maybe we can implement Archak's views in the soon to be launched SAARC club tournament.

    Basically the i league teams are owned by certain companies & other companies sponsoring this becomes a bit strange unless they benefit from it by publicity or maybe tax benefit. You have to get a big fan following for sponsorship. In santosh trophy the fan following is taken care off so naturally more publicity & huge viewers resulting in more sponsors.But if this idea of regionwise clubs is implemented in i league then we will see teams like for eg Allahabad XI playing with Churchill or Vasco & losing by say 15-20 goals. <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->
