Hope we wont get humiliated by Qatar... China i guess got the easiest draw .. India can proceed to next round if they can beat Oman at home and drew away, avoid humiliation with Qatar (for ensuring goal difference) and win against Afghanistan & Bangaldesh (both home & away).. Can't expect an easier group than this to qualify for WC...
It's not only for China... good for Syria... they almost will qualify for third round (world cup qualifiers)..
even Kyrgyzstan & Tajikistan are lucky to get into Group F... If they max get 1 point at home against Japan.. they have chance to qualify for 3rd round
as someone said, Group G is group of death... but if Thailand or Vietnam can win a home tie or a point away from Home... will be favorites to reach third round..
our group is balanced one.. As we have game against Oman on Sep 5th.. It's better if we can play against West Asian countries.. Jordan would be better opponent..
India's defence is the Key to the qualification. If we can get our defensive mojo back and not leak any easy goals, big teams will get frustrated and could open up for India's counter-attack.
Last time we played atrocious football in away games - Guam, Turkmenistan, Oman and lost these three away games. Turkmenistan defeated us at home also.Iran defeated us twice which was expected. We managed only 3 points for a home win against Guam.
Our first Home Game was against Oman and we lost 1-2. We didnt recover after that.
Its good we have quatar. I they top the group they wont play 3rd round which means the 2nd in group will automatically qualify. The 3rd position in group will be similar to best 4 second spots. So better chances of qualification to third round if we play well. Same being reported by Bengali media
I dont think that will happen in this way that 2nd position will be given group topper status and 3rd place will be equated as Group Runners up.
See right now Every Group Topper and 4 best Runner-Ups are selected.
In the case of Qatar topping the Group, 7 Group Toppers and 5 best Runner-Up teams will get selected instead of 8 Group Toppers and 4 best runner-up teams. This has been confirmed from the AFC Rulebook. Bengali media has all got it wrong.
There is a possibility that nobody from our group may progress to the next round.
