Top 2 teams from Division 2 will qualify to play in I-league. You cannot prevent Mohammedan sporting on this basis that you already have 4 clubs from Calcutta. So do they have to wait for Prayag United to disband the club first???

Also we dont know whether 2 clubs will be relegated or not this year???

You don't need a blog. Mohammedan is the classical old style club and while that is somewhat okay you would expect a club with the history of Mohammedan to adjust to the 21st century and modernize. However they have not. I see no sign of that happening. They are also still separated on religious views as far as I know. And also Kolkata (not to mention West Bengal) already has four clubs. That is more than enough for a city in a country as big as India.

We now need to focus on newer markets that are untapped and also the newer clubs which actually have vision. Clubs like Aizawl, Kohima Komets, South United, Quartz, Delhi United... they have vision. Of course though they are not ready but nor is any club outside the I-League.

  • @Arsenalkid700 ; Religion is not an issue. Look at Celtics and Rangers in Glasgow. They are divided over Catholic and Protestant. Noone in UK will say that its old style and religion has no place. If MSC qualify thru I-league division 2, then they are better then Mumbai teams who do not even have any ground in Mumbai and has to play in Pune/Delhi. Also I am not so sure how long this experiment of Arrows will continue.

And we all know how thats affecting the countrys football. The SPL barely have any support due to fans automatically going for Rangers and Celtic and whenever they play its almost like the recent Mohun Bagan-East Bengal match we just had.

Religious clubs are the worst and should not have a place in modern football. Thats my opinion at least.

Religion is not an issue hear ,its an excuse, main issue is even if teams don't deserve to be in i-league by performence they just need to be out side of kolkata or some what goa.

    THE SO CALLED "PAN-INDIA LEAGUE"

Its not just about being from outside Bengal, Goa and Mumbai. Its also about having proper football clubs. A club like KGF Academy is from Bangalore but should they be allowed in the I-League. Not at all. But a club like South United who have a vision and who want to improve the game properly can.

And religion is not an issue? I am not from India but I know that is false. In a country where their a many different religions, languages, and state nationalism there is obviously relegion problems.

Also I see that you still think that on-field performance is the only indicator of if you should be in I-League or not. I am fine with that but at the same time its not good enough. And I think this is a problem on here as a whole. Almost every user on here is used to the usual pro/rel format where it is all about on-field performance. We need to look in other avenues though. Hoping to see that soon.
  • Also lets get one thing confirmed. I-League will NEVER EVER be Pan-India. At best the I-League teams will be from the following...

Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bangalore, Kerala, Hyderabad, Chennai, Odisha or Jamshedpur, Delhi, Punjab, Nagaland, Sikkim, Shillong, Aizawl, and Assam.

There are many major markets that wont get a team. Its like that in every country.

best thing to solve this issue is that...

if your team qualifies to i-league but your state already have 3/4 clubs(whatever is the criteria)
you either relocate your club or give way for next best finishing club

as simple as that.... it will help us getting the pan indian league concept on line along with the quality team being given a chance to show their presence may be not at their best expected way

So many states have zero representation in I league or 2nd division.
J & K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, rajasthan, madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, andhra pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Orrissa, Chhatisgarh, Uttarakhand,
Even if you debar Vasco, Sesa, Mohammedan Sporting saying that your state has 4 clubs, I dont see any club coming from all those above states in I-league. So first build atleast 1 decent football club in all those states so that we can get Pan-Indian league and then we can think of banning Mohammedan sporting or Vasco. It will be like rejecting what we have in one hand in favor of other hand which is empty.
    :P
