Good question. Some say it is, some say it isn't. But given his good relationship with the football secretary, a cross-section of East Bengal officials and the supporters, it is likely that he will be be signing a one-year contract with the club.
According to a news portal, kolkata24x7.com, the East Bengal officials had a meeting with some senior footballers of the club. Senior footballers like Mehtab and Joaquim were present at the meeting. Debabrata Sarkar and Kalyan Mazumder, among others, attended the meeting. Journos were not allowed to attend the tent. The footballers did not speak to the media after the meeting. Word is that it has been decided to release several senior players at the meeting, though the case of Mehtab hangs in the balance. Gurwinder reportedly had a heated argument with Nitu Sarkar. In another unrelated event, it is a feel good' atmosphere at our rival's camp. The great Tutu Bose has disbursed one crore rupees as pending salary to the players. Alas, if we had a more of "Vitamin M' ( before someone jumps to criticize me, i acknowledge that East Bengal players are paid their salary in time and lack of professionalism, wrong recruitment and players' lack of commitment have spelt the doom more for East Bengal this time.)
Injury-prone players who are almost certain to get the boot: Abranches, Lobo, Sanju, Gurwinder, Deepak Mondal, Tulunga. Players who are more or less sure to be retained: Mehtab Hossain, Saumik Dey, (EB wants to retire them in red and gold colours!!), Bikash Jairu, Dika, Narayan Das Players whose fate hangs in the balance: Abhra Mondal, T.P. Rehenesh, Luis Barreto, Rahul Bheke, Md. Rafique, Sehnaj Singh Mendy and Bello are on their way out. If reports are to be believed, Ranti would also not be retained after his comments against his own team. Dong is the only foreign recruit to be kept in the squad. Source: Xtratime
Some of the footballers who played during Morgan's earlier tenure are expecting to return to the club. Penn Orji, for one, has said that he has a very good rapport with Morgan and would consider returning to his old club if he got a good offer. Not sure whether this is a good move at all. I hope he does not bring the Tolgays and Barisics back into the club. Morgan would be asked to provide the team list today.
East Bengal bitten by the Sarada bug yet again. Kalyan Mazumder has been summoned by the CBI in connection with documents being removed from the club's computers while Nitu Sarkar was in jail. Meanwhile, Morgan has reportedly given a list of footballers to the football secretary and UB sponsor, but he would take a final call only on Monday when the meeting would take place. He would be leaving for Australia on Wednesday. Source: Xtratime
