Sounds like the A-League is in some financial trouble after being forced to renegotiate the TV deal with their broadcaster. On average, foreign imports playing in the Bangladesh Premier League and Philippines Football League are paid higher than those plying their trade in the A-League.
I think the problems faced by the A-League are quite similar to what the ISL are experiencing in India. Sponsors carry too much power over their FA, with the football season being forced to be played at a certain time of the year in a way in which it does not clash with the more popular cricket, rugby and Aussie Rules Football seasons. The lack of a promotion-relegation system has also stagnated the A-League, where most of the clubs are just there to make up the numbers instead of looking to be competitive.
No chance foreigners playing in Bangladesh and Philippines are paid better than the ones playing in Australia. Just look at the names ffs, Bangladesh and Philippines have mainly random African players (who are good and cheap) while A-League has great players from European leagues
@DEFENCE123 you are wrong. Australia has better pulling power for European players than Bangladesh/ Philippines. It's not just money, its just the country itself can make it easier for them.
