I was about post this. Japan defeated top teams like S.Korea, Iran & Australia quite convincingly , a pretty strong team. Few of their players not even 16 year old.

Don't blame the clubs. Have the clubs stopped AIFF from organizing age group leagues lasting 6 - 7 months with clubs playing at least 30 matches each? Have clubs stopped state FAs from organizing age based tournaments? You can't make a 30 day tournament annually  and ask clubs to keep squads for the entire year, it doesn't work that way, no where in the world. State FAs and AIFF needs to give the clubs platforms to play their youth teams round the year. Once they do, no clubs will be in a position to wriggle out.

Issue is, AIFF doesn't have the money to do it. And that's why it's essential that FSDL takes complete control of AIFF and converts it into a private body a la BCCI.

Not that FSDL are also doing anything positive. They are an agenda-driven, profit-seeking body who don't give two hoots about a domestic structure or youth development, or even, club development.
In ISL, everybody is losing money except them. FSDL know only a short league with gimmicks like play offs are going to earn sponsorships, and that's why they were fighting tooth and nail against expansion.

FSDL didnt fight league expansion, they own AIFF by the balls, they dont need to fight them. If FSDL wanted a 2 month league, it would have happened and there is nothing anyone could do about it. Stop crying like the commies from Bengal and Kerala. The time of socialism in football is long over. FSDL should run football in India and not some half arsed unprofessional council like AIFF.

I understand. And thanks to FSDL's competent (and capitalist way of) handling, all clubs barring MB and Mumbai FC are deep in the red even after so many years of ISL. Of course, the only other party making profit are FSDL themselves. AIFF get just the sustenance.

Also, the deep understanding of Indian football by FSDL gave us club gems from Pune and Delhi, and the masterstroke of clubbing the whole of NE India (2.5 lakh sq KM area and 45 crore population) and 'giving' them one club (and saving John Abs the rigours of going there by managing the club from the comforts of Mumbai city -- sorry -- the clouds). And folding Fed Cup. Oh, and giving us Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and other passionate club owners. The list is long, my friend, and the damage is irreparable.
    Way to go.
