that would be the system to go ,so that clubs can make money when they identify players

mumbai fc when started also used to give minimum of 3 year contracts to all players that time like abishek, anas, peter and all...but dont know whether they still follow it
and i was surprised that they sold/leave their best defender, anas when his contract had expired gaining nothing...
our clubs also should follow the european format where most clubs either extend their contract or else selling him in the year before his contract expiry

Most players are signed on a 1 year or 2 yr deal, so teams will wait out a contract if they want a player and sign for free at the end of it.
In the case where a player has a 3 yr deal at the club and he wants to leave , he will often pay off someone at the club and get his release letter ( No objection certificate) , before joining his new club who will often reimburse him the cost of him breaking his contract.

To date only professional clubs like Pune FC and Shillong Lajong FC have players on longer contracts and as such in a position to claim transfer fees.
Its rumored that Subrata Pal will be leaving for Kolkata with a transfer fee of 25 Lakhs being agreed for him.
Lajong FC also paid PFC for a youth goalkeeper at the start of the season

So how does the Tata Football Academy earn its revenues??

Its quite stupid that they dont sell players as major revenue can be generated by selling players and developing new ones in the academy

Academy players can generate revenue to the club that produces them , its called Player Compensation.
The new EPPP program in the English Premier League will determine how much those clubs get.
The similarly calculated cost of developing a player in Indian clubs is zoo minuscule that most clubs don't bother to demand this.

As for TFA, they run the Academy as a CSR ( corporate social responsibility) venture & as such get major tax breaks. Gaining revenue from this would go against this model, and besides, TATA doesn't need the money.

btw TFA doesn't produce any good players !
To paraphrase some former players & coaches .....They are just a conduit for talented players , they pick up the top players in the country at the Under-16 level , and then a few years later , they dispatch them to various Kolkata clubs ( and now Pune).....these players were good before they joined TFA , and playing/practicing every day only helps them to continue their progression......the true benchmark of TFA is this....

When TFA begun , India's rankings were in the Top 100 in the world, after 20 years of TFA claiming to be the supplier of most of the National team players, India is now ranked 162 !!

If a CSR venture is what AIFF is relying on to produce National team payers , then god help Indian football.....

i think some smaller clubs should sign decently good players to long term contracts and sell them to bigger for more money.
  • Interesting article I found on Baichuing's Bury stint. I had no idea that he played under Neil Warnock, the man who guided QPR to promotion last season and current Leeds United coach.

    Thanks for the detailed explanation.
But do you think that more residential academies would open soon, and trading of talent would start soon in India?
Plus the academy can sign a professional contract with the player once he is 18 and then demand a price they think he is worth.
What is the average transfer price fee in the I league.?

Was reading an article on goal.com.
    http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/136/india/2012/03/19/2976737/unless-the-quality-of-players-is-upgraded-neither-savio

Even though I dont agree with it completely but there are some valid points about the quality of players. (to be fair quality and commitment of NT players).
