the problem is why are they playing a academy as India u16 why don't the scouth from all fifa-aiff academy's ,sesa, tata,CFA,club teams like EB,SFC SLFCetc and select the best 11 I believe there are lot better player's in Indian then this team
Thanks @hadfadkar @rohan i also believe that the clubs and other academies would find new talents for the senior team by the time the reach their prime but as i said previously these aiff fifa academy would form the core.
Well, that has been said to be the plan but that is what the AIFF and coaches say all the time. Look at the Pailan Arrows guys? These guys were supposed to form the core of the current India national team. It was like that at first but now it is only a few, less than 10 surely, who can make the India team.
AIFF Academy haven't selected the best players nor have their age verifications been done very well , with the +/- of 2 years as a standard deviation on some tests, there is no way they can get these things right, so unfortunately we have more than a few in Kalyani , Goa , Bangalore & Mumbai who have slipped through the net.
The coaches of these Academies are so worried about looking bad , that they pick opposition that they know they will beat comfortably , and then have Nilanjan wax lyrical about their progress.'
I'm a strong believer in that players learn more from defeats than hollow victories.
Of the players in each of these Regional Academies , less than 3/30 will go on to play professional football at the top level in India, and maybe 1 from each of these Regional Academies will play for India.
The whole structure and set up is counter productive and will lead to stagnant and unmotivated players. Most of them will end up with Govt jobs , and some won't even last the course. The drop out rate is very high already.
And a proper league structure at youth level, one that includes the best academies in India, not just including AIFF etc and it needs to actually be proper... none of this 2-3 month I-League U19 crap.
Agree but the clubs should take the initiative and I guess some clubs have academies but do the selectors even know there are better players in the academy? They just sent the FIFA-AIFF academy players to play.
the money spent on these academies could have been spent on age group competitions.
This is where @ArsenalFan700 idea of state leagues would come in. Have the 2nd Division and I-League clubs mandated to take part in regional / state youth league and winners progress to Nationals.
This gives the National youth team coaches a much larger base to scout from , and then have regional camps and national camps during school holidays.
Would be a much better use of the resources than these residential academies, which are a hangover from the Colm Toal and Bulpin era.
These were created so these lazy Brits could sun bathe in Goa and have the players come to them rather than them travel to scout the talent
