Very sad news. Those people will not let any match in Mumbai. There are some rich and powerful people living in buildings near cooperage stadium and they think that their real estate value of flats will come down if a stadium is built. So they put up every dime and excuse-like heritage property law or noise pollution. Some old diabetic patient suddenly wants to walk -They have oval maidan and traffic park nearby to walk but they want to walk in cooperage. WIFA is very weak body. Bye bye mumbai football= we will never ever see any match there. Disgusting people.
Heritage my foot. They do not want a stadium near their real state. They will lose money they fear. The grass turf is a heritage? Which grass turf has ever been a heritage? Or the rickety stands? Those who claim it to be heritage material should be made to sit on them on a stormy day. MoFo idiots!
its really sad.....i was expecting to see a few games there, those fucking assholes who claim it heritage are cunts.... where were all these people when the so called heritage wooden stands were rotting, there was no toilet, the grass was as good as concrete to walk on (the hardest and the most bouncy pitch in i-league)...... i feel like bashing them up.... >:P
Pankaj Joshi, executive director of the Urban Design Research Institute,
said Cooperage is listed as grade I heritage ground. "So, while doing
any changes there, the authority has to seek permission of the city
heritage committee. Cooperage, Oval, Cross and Azad maidan sites have
been nominated for world heritage sites. If we will spoil its heritage
beauty in such a way, we may lose the chances of getting world
recognition," he added.
)
what kind of world recognition are they expecting? Heritage is just an excuse to not let any football matches there.
What are they talking about. They do not understand how much potential Mumbai has in terms of Cooperage. The Cooperage has the potential to be one of the best!!!
Okay, now that is just mean Ashlesh. You know Mumbai has just about as huge a history with football as say even Goa has. Mumbai has just slipped down the years.

This was earlier news on this issue by DNA on 10th october.
Why not find another ground and renovate that. Stupid suggestion but what else can you do. The area around Cooperage was always small.
The local residents logic of heritage is retarded. Even Wembley stadium was demolished to make a new stadium.
