The Tilak Stadium (for football) in Vasco will be upgraded and refurbished. While the players dressing rooms will be upgraded, a media box, a VIP box, medical room, dope testing room, referees room will come up on ground floor. It will be as per the AIFF specifications, good enough to host I-League matches. Floodlights will provide 1500-1700 lux illumination. Tendered for Rs 6,31,60,686.75 to SMC Infrastructures.
Similarly, the Nehru Stadium at Fatorda where the Lusofonia Games’ opening and closing ceremonies will be held, will also be upgraded and refurbished. The work has already begunand it will have upgraded dressing rooms, coaches, referees, medical, dope testing, media briefing rooms, mixed zone, a new media hall and conference room. I think the best thing to do here is to wait till WIFA posts the official news on their website. Newspapers seem to be confused as well.

Lets keep our fingers crossed. So far NOC has been agreed on verbally but official paper is not given. then read this-

    A Chinese company has been
given the tender of constructing the stands and kiosks - all of which
can be easily dismantled. "More than 50% of the material is at the
ground and the rest should follow once we get the NOC.

We have even asked officials from the company to fly down to India to complete the job as soon as possible," informed Menezes.

There was conflict between Chinese company and WIFA regarding money. Still 50% of material has to come from China by shipment and this is all X-mas holiday period. I will be surprised if they are able to manage it so fast. Good thing is that Fllodlights are working. Lets see.

    :-?

  • Paljor Stadium... once a beautiful stadium... Comparison. He it is in 2009...

And here it is as of 2012:

  • @Arsenalkid700 ;   Paljor Stadium is old Polo Ground in Gangtok. It has improved a lot in last 10-15 years. I remember in late 90s saw some clips on TV of Sikkim Gold Cup and there was hardly any grass at that time. They renovated it and around 2005 this present stadium took shape. Owner is Sports deartment of State Government. Even now all the state functions, cultural ceremonies take place here like 15 august, 26 January etc. see police parade on artificial turf.

This is how it used to look in old days. shephards with sheep, goats and occasional polo game of British sahibs and memsahibs.

I think USFC has to rent this stadium from Sikkim Government and slowly as money start coming, they will improve it by new paint, floodlights etc. Atleast Sikkim government supports football and Baichung Bhutia is a big big influence there.
