so wht abt the capacity of d stadium...and are they gonna use bucket seat???
  • The Capacity of the Cooperage Ground is expected to be 5,000 people but then every year they want to expand it and maybe eventually if they can create more room they would like 20,000, all bucket seats.

I am hoping they give away stadium naming rights away too. How sweet would the Air India Stadium sound.

BTW while I am at this thread why don't we give stadium naming rights away. Right now we have sponsors as the name of clubs. Well why don't the AIFF negotiate with these companies to give of team naming rights and give them stadium rights...

Cooperage Ground - Air India Stadium
    Balewadi Complex - Peninsula Stadium
Salt Lake Stadium - United Breweries Arena
Nehru Stadium, Shillong - Airtel Stadium
Kaloor Stadium - The Chirag Stadium
Bangalore Football Stadium - Hindustan Aeronautics Stadium

This would be awesome and it would give companies a better way to advertise than through the team name. The thing that supposed to represent a state/city. Not a company.
  • Hi @ all
I am from germany and I like to watch some indian football the next week. for this reason I am searching for a list about the stadiums in use in first and exspecially second division. Can somebody help me with such a list (stadium name/ City/ football team), it would be easier for me to decide, which football matches I can watch live in stadium doing my round trip next week in india. For first division I found a list in an other thread:
    "
    - Salt Lake Stadium (Kolkata - 120,000 capacity [5,000 to 10,000 bucket seats]) - Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Prayag United, Pailan Arrows
    - Cooperage Ground (Mumbai - 5,000 capacity [Not sure how many bucket seats]) - Mumbai FC, Air India FC
    - Fatorda Stadium (Margao - 27,300 capacity [around 1,000 bucket seats]) - Salgaocar, Dempo, Churchill, Sporting Goa
    - Balewadi Stadium (Pune - 20,000 capacity [all bucket seats]) - Pune FC
    - Bangalore Football Stadium (Bangalore - 15,000 capacity [not sure how many bucket seats]) - HAL SC
    - Kaloor International Stadium (Kerala - 60,000 capacity [whole lower tier bucket seats, also capacity might be lowed for football matches]) - Chirag United Kerala
    - University Stadium - (Thiruvananthapuram - 15,000 [no bucket seats]) - Chirag United Kerala
    - Tilak Maidan Stadium - (Vasco de Gama - 12,000 [no bucket seats]) - Any Goan Team
    "

And for first the last question: What are the Kick off times of first and second Division, exspecially the next week from saturday 28 of january to Monday 06th of february.

  • Thanks for this fast answers, so my first indian football match will be mumbai fc vs air indian in Pune, arriving 2am on saturday in mumbai, should be no problem going to pune by train and then with train to goa for the next match on sunday Dempo vs Salgaocar in Fatorda Stadium and Tuesday Kaloor Stadium.
btw I know about 2 division matches on Feb 1st and 2nd, is one match maybe on Wednesday, 1st in Delhi (matches should be Ar-Hima vs Aizawl, Southern Samity vs Eagles, Royal Wahingdoh vs Samaleswari, Sesa Football Academy vs Kenkre, Mohammedan vs KGF Academy and Vasco SC vs PIFA Colaba), and in which stadium (Dr. Ambedkar Stadium?) and is it right that Mohammedan (specially on Sunday Feb 5th)is playing in Kolkotta (you just said dehli, cuttack and silchair) in a smaller stadium, not in Salt Lake?
May you have a link for fixtures with stadiums and kick off time, the aiff site just show the matches.
Well this are many questions, maybe it is the wrong thread(allthough it is about infrastructure), you can also answer with personal message.
    Thanks for your fast helping.
