They may earn a contract but not same as before. Maybe with 40-50% pay cut or in some cases a 80% pay cut. Basically, some players are just playing for pocket money.
that's sad. hope situation will be changed soon. need year long one proper league, restriction in foreign players, also if there is capping in highest salary there should be a guarantee of lowest minimum salary considering footballers earning years are very less. ( it is more evident in india as players start playing the game professionally at a higher age). 2nd division I league should be an indian only affair with a lowest possible salary capping.
I think it is high time that reasonable or mediocre players without jobs should try outside India. I meant to countries with weaker leagues than I-league such as in Bangladesh or Maldives, etc. I am not looking for improving these people rather want them consistent jobs for their sake.
And also hopefully we might see a trend/culture of players also trying abroad. Maybe someday we will see a top Indian players moving to better leagues.
I think it is slightly different, all clubs with afc cup ambition, will go for well built random non asian guys rather than indian. even in maldives and bangladesh, only hope may be asian quota, there also lots of competition. they can move to mid table clubs of these country, 2nd division thai league 2nd division Chinese league, lower half tpl clubs, j league 2, etc could be a possible destination
2nd Division of Thailand... yes... 2nd Division in China and Japan, hell no. Lower half TPL clubs? If they can't even get a proper contract in ISL/I-League then no chance in Thailand.
Worse comes to worse, state leagues in Australia or even New Zealand but I not sure if it would work.
Either way, we do need a long-league eventually and then a proper system at the state/regional levels. Right now everything is a mess.
J League 2 is a good option for Indians..But they will not take an Indian guy who's mediocre here..Top players like Mandar or Romeo might get a chance...Vietnam is already sending some of their top players in J2
