What will be the repercussions of this from a sponsor perspective? Hitesh Gossain, from Onspon.com further adds, “The merger of the 2 leagues, would now entail an extended period for the Indian footballing season. This would see an increased interest from brands to partner with the ISL as this would give them a bigger time-frame to engage with audiences. Further, with Euro 2016, taking place in France this year, a lot of excitement would be seen in the football space this year”.
The article was making nice sense till the last line when he tries to relate Euro 2016 to ISL-I-league merging (official term of scrapping I-league) proposed for 2018. All was lost at the last line.
Audience interest and Sponsor Interest will increase as Euro Cup is a popular tournament even in India. That popularity will rub into ISL also later on.
Bottomline : Most franchises from ISL will make it, 3 i-league clubs BFC, EB & MB are proposed to be part of the top tier. DSK, MFC & ATK merger with existing franchises and clubs is doing the rounds. 2 other leagues below ISL called League 1 & League 2 will contain the rest. A women's league is proposed to be formed.
In a nutshell, Some posters cant handle this much change and in serious need of a chilled beer.:)
Making ISL the premier league without ISL teams first meeting AFC criteria is improbable if not impossible. There has to be physical infrastructure for clubs on the ground. Else AFC will call Nita Ambani's bluff sooner than later. There is only so much grace you can get

Also, John Abraham is not the best actor but he is not bad, at least for Bollywood, but he supports the ISL so he is automatically a rubbish actor.
