IMO, this is a pretty big accusation against Elano which could backfire if not true. Not only was Elano accused of abusive talk to the owner, but it was in a different language (I assume Salgaocar knows Portuguese as a Goan?) and then not only holding by the neck but also elbowing the guy on the chest. Personally I find it hard to believe Elano did those physical things, he does not have the record of it nor the look of it. Every personality in football he has worked for has called him a model professional... probably one of the most professional among the Brazilians along with guys like Kaka.
If true then Elano should be suspended to start the season and fined, along with Chennaiyin FC. However, if it is proven otherwise, Salgaocar should not be allowed within the stadium during ISL matches for a certain number of games, as well as the usual fine to him and the club.
As for the manager, Rajesh Malgi. Personally an accusation like that from the equipment manager would see strong repercussions from the club itself and not just the league... some may suggest sacking (IMO, he shouldn't, but I ain't making the decision) and then of course you have the fine of the guy and the club. Suspension? Hell no IMO.
Either way, this is the chance for the ISL to flex some muscle and make sure things like this are handled and have little chance of happening again. FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC should be the model clubs of the league, not caught in hearings like these.
Just slap a 5-10 crore fine to FC Goa and be done with it. And banish Elano and that equipment manager from Indian football for lifetime. Who the hell cares about all these?
Er...Football fans in india following the clubs care about it? from both CFC and FCGoa? Although Goans went tits up cracy in all this, i hope its just a wrap in the knuckles for FCGoa, a kick in the ass for Mr. salgocar and all parties get back to football. How about slapping 5-10 crores fine on EB, i would like to see if EB could afford guys like mendy who you are all creaming about .Things like these happen in football at the heat of the moment. Thats why IMG rel need to manage it.
So you think the Chennai Circus paying for Mendi at the moment? Nothing will come out of this, what will they do anyway, really impose a substantial fine? Suspend FCGoa or its owners? They couldnt even suspend Mohun Bagan when they ran away during half time.
The Salgaocars and all of FC Goa owners are rich enough and powerful enough to put AIFF or its owners in their place. AIFF has no moral authority to punish any club anyway and powerful people know it.
Thats what FC Goa is currently doing ...."'Wanted to show Elano that we Goans are not cowards'"......salgaocar satisfying his ego, showing how powerful he is in Goa. Harassing a world cupper. Fc goa has been sore losers since the final... starting from making match fixing allegations to elano's arrest . If salgaocar was assaulted physically, why did he refuse a medical examination post match (as claimed by CFC's lawyer)?? Mr.Salgaocar wants to harass others but doesnt want anyone to mess with him.
Goa fans in the stadium, especially those whose seats were closer to the player dug-out might have seen what was going on. As this is not any sanctioned or official club or league, FIFA or AFC cant do anything. Matters like this can only be decided on Family Dining Table as all concerned members - ISL Owners, owner of Chennai FC, FC Goa owner are of one Family only. Forgive, forget and move forward. Why drag on this issue?
