What on earth are Dempo thinking by retaining Koko. He is a reject from Churchill some seasons back. And Dempo is foolishly wasting one slot for Koko. Their foreigners this yr may bring their downfall unless they sign some good player.
For me Seoka is ok. Koko is crap. Rohan, hmmm not there yet, but may perform in future.
Also Valu is pet of Armando, so he wont replace him. Or else he would have taken Densil long back. As Colaco has the habit of taking most of the good Goan players from other goan teams and then claims that he is giving chance to Goans.

i agree some extent to your point..... but as long as the team is on the top of the league, does it matter??? afc cup will be different though
I am not sure Dempo would be able to match the AFC champions standards.with all respect to Dempo we would be beaten regularly..what i am pissed is Dempo have missed out on lucrative monetary benefits that comes with getting in to the Champrionship..i believe its a lot of money if yo play win draw progress to the next round.
like @ashlesh said it would also put Dempo a cut above the other indian teams.. ( basically more for bragging rights) and maybe also elicit interest in players coming to indian shores which will gradually give a fillip and improve our standards.
Maybe not getting into d championship is a blessing in disguise or it may become a curse..on one hand we could have had a indian team in top tier indian football..and other hand IMG-AIFF still hibernating on fulfilling teh basic demands of AFC.
even if we satisfy the criteria for AFC Champions league, they have a very tough AFC Qualifying tournament. Dempo will ahve to defeat teams like Arbil, Al-Kuwait who are like winners of AFC Cup many times in order to qualify for AFC Champions League. Last year, teams like Estheghlal and Pohang Steelers participated in qualifying tournament for AFC Champions League.
Honestly speaking , we are lucky that we have two slots in AFC Cup.If our bad performance continues, who knows, we may get 1 direct slot and one club will have to participate in qualification for AFC cup also.
In 2011 Dempo reached 2nd round (Round of 16). 2010 Churchill reached 2nd Round. In 2009 Dempo reached 2nd Round. In 2008 Dempo reached semi-finals. 2007 Mahindra reached Quarter Finals. 2004 East Bengal reached Quarter Finals.
We should first do well in AFC cup and then only talk about qualifying for AFC Champions league. Even if AIFF satisfy AFC norms, our clubs cannot win in qualifying tournament against such strong teams.
