    > Well, thats a great initiative, finally a proffessional club in TATAnagar :) and even "Jamshedpur" name is based on the founder of the group. For guys born and brought up in Jamshedpur the city will always be known as TATA and I don't think locals will have any problem with the name .Most of the guys in Jamshedpur are somehow associated with TATA group of companies be it TATA Steel/TATA motors/Tinplate .
Also, normally people in Jamshedpur use Tata more often than Jamshedpur so it won't be a problem at all. Also, there is a football culture in the area as most of the natives play football.

So, go TATA FC :) and they have the best talent pool available in India and they will not require even foreigners in their team . They had won it in 2006 so hopefully even this year they will be a team to watch out for. You can never count them out if they are serious .

Its funny how you guys pass judgements and give verdicts without even caring to know the background. No you heard it from the horse's mouth that jamshedpur is known more popularly as Tatanagar or Tata. So can they get fans now please? :)

Not really @nameWTHeld because the club may soon be known as Tata FC and the city may also be known as Tata but what is the clubs reasoning for the name of the club? Why do they want a football club by the name of Tata? Is it really because that is what they also call the city the company is based in?

You missed the question. The question is... Is the name Tata FC really because the city is also called Tata or is it because that is the name of the company that is based in the city?

If it is because that is what the city is called then my all means go ahead with it but if it is because that is the company name and thus for promotional reasons like Dodsal etc then they are not worth the time of day.

@Arsenalkid700 both, the city is also known by most TATA. and in indian football u get nothing in return for ur investment. so they whould also want to promote the company through the team. i don't see any problem in it.

I don't either. I just don't want to see Tata come into the I-League for promotional gains and not for the love of football and to create a community among fans. Almost like Dodsal who have no connection to Mumbai at all but will still gain fans because of bloody money.
  • One reason why corporates like Tata, Salgaocar or even PSUs invest in sports is that they get Tax benefits because of investing in so called Corporate Resposibility. We need to change their mindset that Football Club can actually earn money for them and it should be treated as full time business.

You wanted city based clubs right ?? So, here it is. Most of the locals > 95% of the people still call it TATA and they won''t have any problem with the them. If TATAs based the club in Mumbai/Kolkata then it would have been a different scenario. But the club is situated in TATA itself so no one should be having any problem at all, atleast those guys who don't know about the history of Tatanagar.

And seriously you think they want some promotion out of it,, lolzzz . Are they getting anything from TFA and TAA? Absolute zero .
And if they want promotion of their brand TATA, won't they just buy an EPL club .

And yeah they do have two stadiums for themselves(in the heart of the city) which none of the clubs are having in ileague. Turf might need some renovations, which they can easily do if they are interested in it.

  • Yes but your missing the point. I am perfectly fine with the name Tata FC... no objections. I will have an objection if say... the logo of the club is literally the Tata company logo. That would indicate pure promotional reasons.

As for promotion... look at Dodsal FC. How many users on here knew who Dodsal were before they formed the club? TATA would come in for the same reasons.
