I just thought I make this thread so we can all share how we all are doing on our football teams that we play for. I for one am very interested in hearing who you guys play for and how you guys are doing. Also don't just post about your own experience. Also post (or reply) to someone else who talked about there team and say what you think about it. Also try updating this when you can. Like when you score a goal or something similar post it here. This thread could also be a moral booster for users as well if people reply to others.

  • Name: Rohan
    Age: 16
    State/Country: New York, United States
Position: Striker, Central Midfielder, Center Forward

Your current team: New York Red Bulls Under-16's Academy (going to be New York Red Bulls Under-18's Academy in 2012)

Current Season: Tri-State Academy League 2011 (May to December) [Season Finished]

    Games: 25 out of 27 (Starts: 16)
    Goals: 13
    Assists: 10-15
    Man of the match: 1
    Hat-tricks: 1

What I think about my season: Personally I think I had a good season. I started 16 games and scored 13 goals in a year which was a bit depressing for me at times. I am having a lot of issues at school (grades, friends, bitches that constantly abuse me because I don't like American Sports (other than Basketball which I like) and I like Soccer which no one has any idea of) I also had to deal with a break-up in November which started a decline. According to my dad who keeps my stats I played 6 games from November to Now with only 1 goal.

I am hoping my 2012 season will be better as I was not selected for the under-18's automatically but I was selected to try-out for the team in March/April. Hopefully I can do it.

Information on my team: New York Red Bulls is the local Major League Soccer team in my area and the team I play for is part of the Red Bulls youth system. There are around 12 Red Bull Under-16 teams with a squad of 18 per team. (So I am 1 of 216 kids in the under-16 system). Then for my future team, the Red Bulls under-18s is the 3rd tier of the Red Bulls. (1st tier being the actual team that plays in MLS, 2nd tier is the Reserve (or under-23) team, and 3rd being the under-18's) There are only 5 under-18 teams with again 18 per team. (So if I make it I would be 1 of 90 kids) That would be an honor if I make it.

My goal: My actual fantasy goal is to go through the Red Bulls youth system and sign a pro contract with them, then from there move to England and eventually make it to Arsenal FC. I would also like to play for either the US National Team or India. Most likely though if I am good enough to make pro for Red Bulls I would play for the US National Team as they have a better scouting system then India but playing for India would be great to. Me and Jeje leading India into AFC Asian Cup 2019. That would be amazing.

I never had much of football career to talk about as i came from a school which gives priority towards curriculum then extra activities and which didnt had a football team even and also as i started playing the game late at age of 16 only i guess so i was never gonna do anything good.
I always liked to be in last line of defense, when playing with friends used to be in center back. The only thing i do good in football is clearing the ball from my zone and feeding it to players in free space.
i would say my football career has never looked good for even amateur football, but due to my late following,my love for game was more inclined to indian than european football.

I wouldn't say thats bad for amateur football. I mean it was not your choice to start at 16 as football was and still is really hard to find in India.

But from what I see from your posts on here I think you would make a good youth coach. I mean we all know what is required for youth coaching and we know the youth coaches today who are like 30-40 years old are shit because they grew up without the game so maybe you can start something new. You may become the next Andres Villa-Boas who starts coaching somewhere around 20 years old and look where he is today.

I have to be a good motivator. I was vice-captain of Red Bulls till I was benched for decrease in form.

Anyway you should try administration. Also its not that hard either to find a job like that as you live in the Mumbai area and luckily WIFA is you association who are one of the best, if not the best federation in India. You are bound to find openings with them

Learned football during my schools days in hostel but never got the support, facilities or even coaching which could have taken me to greater heights but still I'm happy with what I achieved at school and my Inter days. Now that I have very less chance of making something out of playing career I wish I could contribute something via Academics.
