  • Given the fitness potential of Carlos Hernandez, Prayag is fast tracking its Asian quota recruit.  Prayag lost the last game in CFL against Eastern Railways. Carlos was played as a striker but he was not allowed ball possession by the Eastern Railway  central defenders.  Looks like Carlos is good only for his football sense, accurate passing and long rangers. As of now, he is very weak with aerial balls and his reflexes

Anthony Skorich (born 19 March 1990) in Perth
is an Australian football (soccer) player who currently plays for
    Moreland Zebras.

Prayag United SC has already indicated that they are keen to look at opportunities to increase his striking options.

A couple japanese strikers are expected to arrive for trial shortly as well.

  • Any detail on the Japanese strikers, are they J.League or J.League Division 2 players?

Given Garcia's assessment of Carlos's fitness potential, Prayag officials are working overtime on their Asian quota recruiting. They are not responding to phone calls/messages given the embarrassment (sort of) around carlos.

this was on the cards looking at his weight

Ricketts might also have his share of "under the hood" issues, just that Dempo does not have a physical trainer of Garcia's quality( by Ranti Martin's own admission) to be able to genuinely assess. All these so called big tags are rejects, who are exploiting the Indian EPL wannabe's naivete to the hilt. Also football reporting in Goa is not as extensive as in Calcutta, just one game Carlos underperformed and they are a dozen physios, coaches assessing and writing on his fitness, putting pressure on the player as well as the officials who recruited him. Carlos looked very effective in the first game against BNR, the next game he was the lone foreigner in the team and the truth came out.

Carlos is having problems with the aerial ball given his weight but he WILL BE A HANDFUL with Lester on the left, Ranti upfront and a fully fit Lukram james singh on the right. Since it's Calcutta football, already there is so much talk about his fitness etc. Stanley got half a game and a few practice matches, already there are "Bring back Barretto" slogans on the street.  I bet in Goa folks would have been sitting smug with the quality of passing and shooting Carlos displayed on his India debut.

Also that game against Eastern Rail, the railways players did not allow Carlos a minute on the ball and since he was the lone foreigner, every defender was on Carlos in a flash. Carlos had joychandra singh on the right (all he did was mispass every ball he got) and Gourango Biswas on the left and Shankar Oraon partnering him upfront. Lal kamal that day was totally off colour as if he was forced to play. In the defence, DhanChandra Singh was making a fool of himself, so Dipak Mondal had to cover right wing back plus right central back.

Eastern Rail had conceded 11 goals in their previous two games with an all Indian team, so Sanjay Sen decided to go with his third team, did not even start Gour Naskar, James Singh (came on much late in the second half), so partially he shares the blame for the debacle the height of experimentation he was risking that day. Eastern Rail fielded a couple foreigners big bodied Nigerians with Prayag playing a lone foreigner in Carlos, so it was kinda Sanjay Sen challenging Carlos how much weight can he pull all on his own, maybe to give everyone a bitter taste of the reality given the hype surrounding the world cupper tag
