Do we even have 28 2nd Division clubs that can do that. How can this work financially? Where are the owners? Teams?     <b><font face="Arial Black">I LEAGUE FORMAT</font></b><br><br><ul><li><b>TWO CONFERENCES</b> :- <font color="#ff0000">WESTERN</font> AND <font color="#009900">EASTERN</font></li><li><b>20 TEAMS</b> :- 10 from each conference</li><li><font color="#ff0000">WESTERN CONFERENCE states :-  j&k, h.p.,pun,haryana, delhi, rajasthan, mp, guj, maha, goa, andhra, karnataka,t.n.,kerala (14 states)</font></li><li><font color="#009900">EASTERN CONFERENCE states :- uttaranchal, up,bihar, jharkhand, orrisa, chattisgarh, west bengal, sikkim, meghalaya, arunchal pradesh,assam, manipur, nagaland, tripura ,mizoram (15 states)</font></li><li><b>The states are only mentioned to represent the geographical boundaries (may not necessarily mean that there should be a club from each state)</b></li><li>The 20 teams should STRICTLY follow the AFC licensing criteria and only pro clubs are allowed.<br></li><li>10 teams from each conference will play HOME-AWAY games with teams from their respective conference.</li><li>Top 2 teams qualify from each conference will qualify for two legged semifinal play-offs to determine the winner, runner up, 3rd and 4th place.<br></li><li>Bottom 2 teams from each conference gets RELEGATED.</li><li>The remaining 12 teams fight among each other for 5th-16 place, with respect to their placing on the table.</li><li>3+1 foreign player rule, 3 foreigners allowed at 1 time on the field.</li><li><b>ONLY 1 foreign STRIKER</b>  allowed per team, to allow for other Indian strikers to play top level football REGULARLY.</li><li>Matches played under floodlights.</li><li>The above format means each team plays around 20 matches in the league instead of the current 26. This opens up more time for FEDERATION CUP. This will also mean less fatigue for players and free up some time for AFC tournaments.</li><li>Minimum of 2 under-21 players should be played in each game by each side to give them more experience.</li><li>20 teams will allow MORE REPRESENTATION from different parts of the country and further reach of indian football.</li><li><b>DIV 2 - I league</b> should be structured accordingly, with more KNOCKOUT kind of rounds in preliminary stages and then league structure for the remaining teams. This will help REDUCE THE COSTS for running the div 2 by the AIFF.</li><li>The local leagues (mumbai, pune, goa, cfl, delhi league,punjab league,nagaland pl etc) can act as <b>div 3</b> and top teams can qualify for <b>div 2</b>.<br></li></ul>

    with off-season comes the loads of proposal for new i-league structures....(but none reaches to hands of img guys anyway)<div><br></div><div>some pretty innovative ideas while some could not so good ideas clubbed.....loves reading these ideas</div> :)]
  • I dont get how relegating clubs in a conference system would work. I know they do it in England with the 6th tier leagues but I doubt that can work in big country India.
